Men's Basketball Program Hosts Clinic

On May 29th-30th, the Men's Basketball program hosted a team clinic with a few of the local High School basketball programs including Coach Ward and the Susquehanna Valley Sabers, Coach Ocker and the Spartans from Maine Endwell, and Coach Zanot and the Chenango Valley Warriors. The goal for this clinic was to re-establish the connection between local high school players and coaches and the SUNY Broome Mens Basketball Program. The clinic was lead by Broome Head Coach Larry King and assistants Andre Hankey and Brendan Doherty. It consisted of individual and team skill development and controlled scrimmages which gave the players a chance to grow individually as players, and also to develop team chemistry. In addition, Coach Doherty gave an introduction presentation to college level weight training concepts (including explosive movements and olympic lifts) and Coach Hankey spoke to the athletes about the recruiting process and how to best position themselves to further their education as a student athlete at the collegiate level. The clinic was a great success and the Mens Basketball Program plans to build off of these established connections and to continue working with the local basketball community.
