Women Rebound From Loss

The women's basketball team rebounded from their loss on Wednesday with a 63-51 win against Cayuga CC on Saturday in the Baldwin Gymnasium. The Hornets defense continued to hold their opponent in check, allowing just 12 points for the Spartans in the first half and a 25-12 lead. The second half saw both teams score almost 40 points, with Ava Eichler and Gwendolyn Payne scoring 14 and 11 points respectively to lead Broome, and Elisabeth Waterman scoring 12 points for Cayuga in the Half.

Payne scored a collegiate best 17 points and Eichler led all scorers with 22 points. Dana Stepp had a rare double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 assists to go along with her 6 steals and 3 points. Melissa Carden added 8 points and 5 boards while Megan Carden came off the bench for 7 points and 6 rebounds. Brooke Ladd posted 6s in points, steals and rebounds, and added 5 blocks to her lines as well.

Broome will take Sunday off and travel on Monday to Canandaigua for a MSAC matchup against Finger Lakes CC, scheduled for a 5:30 P.M. tip.
