The Hornets are headed back to Peachtree City, Georgia for the 2017 NJCAA National Tennis Championships, October 19, 20, 21. Broome captured the Region III title on Sunday in Syracuse, this marked the second year in a row the Hornets won the coveted title.  Shyanne Daye (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) was a finalist at No.1 singles and No. 1 doubles earning Broome 4 points over the Region III weekend.  Madison Murphy (Clay, NY/North-Cicero) her singles flight in the No.2 spot in two sets and finished 2nd in doubles with her partner Daye.  At No.3 Chelsea Deuel (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) bounced back after her semifinal loss to win the second doubles flight with her partner Emily Whitaker (Vestal, NY/Vestal) to supply Broome with an important 3 points.  Whitaker is a two-time Region III Champion, she won at No.4 singles flight in a three set match and won her No.2 doubles flight, also a three set match.  At the No.5 spot Kara Shanks (Erie, PA/McDowell) is also a two-time Region III Champion, after winning her three set match in the singles flight she and partner, Mollie Elder (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks), won at No.3 doubles.  At No.6 singles Elder pushed her opponent to a third set losing by only two points 7-5 in the tiebreaker after two hours of play.
