vs Corning

The Hornets earned their 5th straight victory and third consecutive shutout on Monday afternoon against Corning CC at Alumni Field, 6-0. The match was evenly fought throughout the first 45 minutes with Arianna Michitti netting the only ball for a 1-0 halftime lead. Michitti's team leading 10th goal of the season came in the 17th minute, courtesy of a double assist from Dana Stepp to Avery Kenyon to Michitti who fought through three defenders to net the go ahead goal.

After some tactical adjustments made at half time the Hornets (5-2) struck for five more goals scoring early and often while holding the Red Barons (1-6) at bay. Kenyon scored her first of two goals in the 48th minute and Stepp picked up her second assist in as many tries. Michitti scored her second goal on a breakaway in the 56th minute when she found herself facing the Corning keeper, one on one, and beating her low in the corner. Fourteen minutes later Michitti scored her third hat trick of the season after receiving a pass in the box from Rhea Hanyon. Stepp scored her own goal to go along with her two assists when she received a dropped ball to the 18 and found herself on the scoring end of a direct shot on net. Kenyon finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute, the result of hard play in the box.

The Hornet defense continued to stand up against their opponents, allowing only 6 shots in the contest while the offense put up 25 shots.

Broome will put their unblemished MSAC record to the test next Wednesday when they travel to Batavia and take on the Region 3's top ranked Genesee CC Cougars scheduled for a 4:00 P.M. start.
