The women's soccer team traveled to Batavia to challenge the nationally ranked Genesee Cougars and after a hard fought first half the Hornets finally succumbed by a score of 6-1.
The first half saw the Hornets go down by two early but with some excellent defensive work both by the back three defenders and the keeper, Kayla Wyckoff, the Hornets were able to get back to within one goal off a rocket from 25 yards out by Arianna Michitti in the 25th minute from an assist by Dana Stepp. The goal was Michitti's team leading 14th of the season.
The Hornets weren't as fortunate in the second half as the deep bench of the Cougars took over and, in a span of under seven minutes allowed 3 consecutive goals and the game was in the books.
The Hornets look to finish the season strong in their final four regular season games. The team will travel to Jamestown CC on Saturday for a 3:00 P.M. match.
