Women Win Non-Regional Match At Home

Broome player dribbling ball past defender
vs Lackawanna

Broome hosted Lackawanna CC on a rainy Saturday afternoon in a non-regional soccer match and came out on top 8-2.

The Hornets were anchored by Avery Kenyon's 3 goals and 2 assists. Kenyon started the scoring in the 20th minute when she picked up a loose ball in the Falcons box, beat a defender and slid it into the net past the Falcons keeper. Three minutes later Kenyon crossed a ball to Alisa Cherednichenko who promptly netted the ball. The next two goals belonged to Kenyon who effectively put the game away. Her second goal came after dribbling by three defenders on the way to an easy finish, followed by her third goal, courtesy of Cherednichenko's assist. Before the half was completed, Cherednichenko completed her brace finishing an excellent assist by Ella Stafford.

Dana Stepp scored two beautiful goals, one off an assist from Quinn Miller and the second off a give and go with Kenyon. Arianna Michitti finished the scoring for the home team, adding her 18th goal of the season from a second assist by Miller. The Falcons scored a pair of late goals but it was to little to late. The Hornets held an 18-10 advantage in shots while the Falcons held the advantage in corners, 6-2.

Broome will finish the regular season at home on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. against MSAC rival Finger Lakes CC.
