The SUNY Broome men's basketball team opened up the season with a 55-45 loss to host Alfred State College on Thursday evening in Alfred, NY. The Pioneers (1-0) jumped out to a 32-18 lead over the Hornets (0-1) and never looked back.
Lloyd Saunders (Brooklyn, NY/Thomas Weaver) led Broome with 20 points and 11 boards and Eddie Stewart (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) chipped in 10 points in the opener.
The Hornets will face SUNY ESF this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in their home opener at the Baldwin Gym.
