Volleyball Struggles In Weekend Matches

The volleyball team lost to Jefferson CC (2-0), Onondaga CC (2-1) and Finger Lakes CC (2-0) in the Cara Bryant Tournament on Saturday in Syracuse and fell at home on Sunday to Genesee CC (3-0).

The Cara Bryant Tournament, hosted by Onondaga CC, saw Boome fall to Jefferson by set scores of 25-23 and 25-13. Megan Carden led the way in kills with 6 followed by Gabriella Bishop and Josephine Dure with 4 each. Bishop led the Hornets with 11 digs and Brianna Rossi and Anna Tiberia were right behind with 10 apiece.

Game two against the host team saw the Hornets take the first match 25-23 before falling to the Lazers 25-23 and 15-2 in the last two matches. Bishop had 6 kills and 14 digs to pace the Hornets while Megan Carden had 5 kills and Melissa Carden and Casie Kephart chipped in with 4 kills apiece. Megan Carden and Tiberia had 12 and 10 digs respectively.

The last match of the day was a 25-13 and 25-12 loss to the Lakers. Megan Carden put up 7 kills and 9 digs to lead Broome while Tiberia had 7 digs and Rossi had 6 digs.

On Sunday the Hornets hosted the Cougars from Genesee CC in the West Gym and lost 25-20, 25-21 and 25-17. Megan Carden again led the way in kills with 11 and digs with 16. Bishop and Rossi had 15 digs each with the former adding 7 kills to her totals. Also in double digits for digs were Kephart with 14 and Tiberia with 10.

Broome will head to Canandaigua on Tuesday for a 6:00 P.M. match against Finger Lakes CC.
