The baseball team played a road doubleheader vs Onondaga on Monday and a home doubleheader on Tuesday, losing all four games to the Lazers.

Game 1 of the doubleheaders on both days featured extremely competitive baseball between the two teams, while Onondaga ultimately overpowered the Hornets in game 2 of the doubleheaders on both days.

Starting off with game 1 on Monday, Broome jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning behind a double from Trevor Dennison and then RBIs by Daniel Crowley and Joseph Miller. Dennison added an RBI of his own and Kobe Dela Cruz and Thomas Contrata drove in the fourth and fifth runs. Peyton Farrell was on the bump for Broome and pitched exceptionally well. Not yielding a hit until the fourth inning, Farrell pitched 5.0 scoreless innings before being hit a bit after that. Trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Onondaga scored five runs to tie the score, thanks in-part to a three-run triple in the gap. Jacob McTigue relieved Farrell and allowed just three hits over 3.0 innings. Unfortunately, the one run allowed by McTigue was a walk-off home run on the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth as the game had entered extra innings.

Monday's game 2 saw Onondaga and Broome register six hits each, but the Lazers plated 11 runs and the Hornets plated just one. Contrata accounted for the only run for Broome via a sacrifice fly. Nolan Hawkins started on the bump for the Hornets and allowed just two hits over 3.0 innings. Thomas Ricci walked just one and struck out four over 2.0 scoreless innings in relief.

When Broome returned home on Tuesday, game 1 of that doubleheader delivered plenty of offense. Onondaga scored first with a sac fly in the second inning, but a triple by Miller tied it up for Broome in the bottom half of that same inning. Broome took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third after Contrata and Nicholas Ragonese had an RBI each, and another run scored on an Onondaga error. The Lazers would tie the score in the top of the fourth and then score four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a 12-4 lead. The resilient Hornets put up a five spot in the bottom of the seventh thanks to four hits, but ultimately fell short. Michael Albertine, Jack Symons, and Kaden Grayson each had an RBI in the inning. Tyler Sienko was phenomenal on the mound for Broome, dealing 5.0 innings and allowing just four earned runs while walking no batters and striking out six.

The final game of the four-game stretch saw the Lazers get out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and they did not look back. Symons and Ricci registered the only two hits for the Hornets in the game, and Crowley drove in the only run with a sac fly. McTigue allowed just two earned runs over 4.2 innings and Grayson pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.

The 0-4 skid against Onondaga drops Broome's record to 5-12 on the year. The Hornets will respond with a four-game set vs Erie CC via a road doubleheader on Thursday and a home doubleheader on Saturday.
