The baseball team was shutout in both games of a doubleheader against Erie on Thursday, 19-0 and 12-0.

It was tough sledding offensively in game one, as Broome registered just two hits, one by Daniel Crowley and one by Jacob McTigue. McTigue added a stolen base and Joseph Miller stole a base after he drew a walk. The Hornets did draw four walks in the contest as a team.

Thomas Ricci started the game on the mound for Broome, going 3.0 innings and walking three and striking out three. Nolan Hawkins relieved Ricci in the fourth inning before the visiting Hornets were retired in the top of the fifth to end the game.

Game two of the day saw Broome contribute two hits again. These hits were obtained by Hawkins and Anthony Thatcher

McTigue got the start for the Hornets on the bump in game two, allowing just two earned runs over 2.0 innings and striking out three. Hawkins pitched a scoreless third and Nicholas Ragonese and Antonio Soto combined to deal the fourth inning. Broome went down in the top of the fifth again to bring game two to a close.

Now sitting at 8-23 on the season, it will be a short memory and a quick turnaround for the Hornets, as the team will get right back to work by visiting Finger Lakes CC on Saturday for a doubleheader at 12:00 PM, and then returning home on Sunday to host Finger Lakes in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
