With a record of 5-1 on the season, the Cannoneers are in a tie for second place in the current NJCAA Division III Region III Women's Volleyball standings.
Jefferson provided a tough test for the Hornets, but the Hornets appeared up to the test in the early stages. Broome came out strong in the first set, trading blows with the Cannoneers before going on a run to eventually win the set, 25-22.
The Cannoneers rallied to assert control over the second and third sets, however, notching 25-7 and 25-3 wins. Broome battled hard in the fourth set, hoping to extend the match to a decisive fifth set.
Despite holding a late lead, Broome could not close out the set and instead allowed Jefferson to come back and take the stanza in a thrilling 25-22 result.
Kate Spencer tied for the second-highest kill total in the match with 11, just one shy of the match high. She also added 21 digs. Amariah Argro had four kills and 11 digs. Ayshah Almashni added 18 digs. Ha Tran totaled 21 assists and six digs.
After the 3-1 loss in the match, the Hornets see their overall record sit at 3-5. A 2-2 record in regional play puts Broome in a tie for third place in the standings with Herkimer College.
The Hornets are back in action for a Tri-Match this Saturday against MSAC opponents Corning and Onondaga.
