Softball Rebounds From Losses With A Sweep

The softball team rebounded from their first losses of the year by sweeping SUNY Delhi 8-0 and 6-5 Thursday afternoon in Delhi, NY.  In game one Kelsey Gannett (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) pitched the 8-0 shutout for the Hornets(12-2). Gannett was 3-3 with two singles and a double and one RBI.  Delaney Zizak (Vestal, NY/Vestal) was 2-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Laura Knight (Conklin, NY/Susquehanna Valley) was 2-3 with a single a double and one RBI.

In game two Broome led until the 6th inning when a pair of singles, a double and a three run home run put Delhi in the lead 5-4.  The Hornets tied it in the top of the 7th when Catherine Caricchio (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) singled and advanced to 3rd on a passed ball. Knight doubled home Caricchio to tie the score. Due to the international tie-breaker rule Gannett started on second base and MarTee Kolpakas (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Gannett to third. Knight doubled to score Gannett for the go-ahead run. Knight earned her sixth win of the year and finished 3-4 with a homerun and five RBIs.

Broome will host the Red Barons from Corning CC this Saturday at 11 a.m.
