Volleyball Struggles In Syracuse Over The Weekend

The women's volleyball team had a tough weekend with their first POD play at Onondaga Community College. The team went 1-2 with a win over Cayuga, but fell to Onondaga and Jefferson. Their first match of the day was against Cayuga who they swept in three 25-14, 25-16, and 25-16. They went on to play Onondaga losing a heart breaker in the first set 25-27 and then lost the second set 14-25 and the third 16-25. Their last match of the day was against Jefferson who they lost to in four 20-25, 16-25, 25-20 and 13-25.

Ashleen Speen (Vestal/Vestal, NY)  led the day with 40 kills and 8 blocks. Amanda Buchta dished out 82 assists. Both Alyssa Beck (Vestal/Vestal, NY)and Morgan Rezmerski (Owego Free Academy/Owego, NY) had strong defensive performances leading the team with 32 digs apiece. Danielle Gorman (Windsor/Windsor, NY) was also a strong contributor with 4 service aces.

SUNY Broome travels to Dryden, NY on Wednesday for a 6 PM match against Tompkins-Cortland CC.
