The women's volleyball team swept Jefferson CC in three sets at the West Gym on Wednesday evening to improve to 11-5 overall/3-2 MSAC and win their ninth match at home. The Hornets lost to the Cannoneers earlier in the season but came back strong in their win tonight. SUNY Broome swept Jefferson with scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-22. In the first set the Hornets struggled and exchanged point for point with the Cannoneers. In the second set Broome came out and got an early lead and kept rolling from there. The host team had a very strong performance all around. Alyssa Beck (Vestal/Vestal, NY) led a solid defense with 13 digs and Morgan Rezmerski (Owego Free Academy/Owego, NY) chipped in with 8. Ashleen Speen (Vestali/Vestal, NY) led the offense with 18 kills. Amanda Buchta (Vestal/Vestal, ny) dished out 34 assists as well as an ace to help lead Broome to their three game sweep. Danielle Gorman (Windsor/Windsor, NY) had a solid all around performance with 1 ace, 4 kills and 7 digs.
