The women's basketball team lost to North Country CC on Saturday, 88-51, and defeated Clinton CC, 47-43, on Sunday for a split in the two Region III contests over the weekend.

Against the Saints on Saturday, a sluggish first quarter saw the Hornets fall behind 30-12 before regrouping and taking the second quarter 16-14.  The host team came out after the intermission and duplicated the first frame, 30-12, to put the game out of reach.  Miya Ritchie dropped 12 points, picked up 5 boards and 5 assists in her first collegiate start.  Anna Hotalen and Glory Thomas came off the bench to score 11 and 8 respectively.  Hotalen picked up 6 rebounds and Thomas had 3 steals, both team highs.  North Country's Kayla Carder led all scorers with 24 points, and all rebounders with 17.

Sunday's contest against Clinton was a hard fought game by both teams with Broome holding a slim 3 point lead going into the half.  The third quarter saw both teams scoring only 6 points, followed by a 1 point Hornet advantage over the Cougars in the fourth.  The difference maker in the game was a double-double by Hotalen.  The freshman controlled the boards bringing down 18 of them, and had a team high 14 points.  Kasey Krewson and Ritchie each had 7 points, the former adding 3 blocks and 5 rebounds, the latter adding 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals to their lines.

The women are off for the break and will come back Tuesday, November 27th for a 7:00 P.M. home opener against Division II, Niagara County CC.
