The men's soccer team picked up their first loss of the season in Auburn on Wednesday afternoon, dropping the match 3-0 to Cayuga CC. The Spartans opened up the scoring 21 minutes into the game on a goal by sophomore forward Mikel Abando followed by Alejandro Blazquez's goal to double the lead for the host team 6 minutes before the end of the first half.
The second half saw SUNY Broome (6-1) come out much harder but still wasn't enough to keep Cayuga (4-1) from scoring their third goal of the game, courtesy of Grant Stamp in the 56th minute which would go on the be the final score. Luke Duncan (Jersey, GB/Highlands) and Gustavo Cichorski-Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Nossa Senhora do Morumbi) combined for 10 stops in goal.
Broome is on the road again this Saturday when they travel to Fulton Montgomery for a 3:00 P.M. soccer match.
