Men's Soccer Falls to Herkimer In Final Match of 2023 Campaign

The men's soccer team traveled to Herkimer, NY on Wednesday for its final match of the season against Herkimer College. They dropped the contest by a final score of 10-2.

The Hornets played from behind for the duration of the contest, as the Generals scored three goals within the first 16 minutes of the game, opening up with a strong lead. Nathaniel Wojcik turned in yet another impressive performance for Broome, starting the scoring for the Hornets with a goal in the 34th minute and adding another in the 56th minute of the match. Yuri Brich and Adrian Pjetri each tallied an assist to Wojcik, Brich assisting the first goal and Pjetri assisting the second. Wojcik's mulit-goal effort was a strong close to his season as he ended the year with 14 goals.

Herkimer used a high-quality offensive showing to earn their ninth win of the season, outshooting Broome 24-12 in the process. The Generals scored eight of their 10 goals in the first half, and Broome netted a goal in each half. All 12 goals scored in the contest were assisted in some manner. Enoch Stephenson totaled 10 saves on the day, while John Serafini also got in goal for the Hornets and added six saves of his own. 

With Wednesday's loss, Broome finishes the season with a record of 5-9-2. Herkimer ends their regular season with a 9-2 mark, moving on to postseason play in the Region III Tournament.
