Broome lost both games of their doubleheader against Niagara County CC on Saturday at the BU Bearcat Softball Complex by a score of 14-6 in game one and 11-5 in game two.

The Thunderwolves took a 2-0 lead in the top half of the inning in game one, only to have the Hornets answer back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and a 3-2 lead. The lead was short lived as the visitors tacked on three runs in the second and never looked back, taking the opener in six innings 14-6. Only three Hornets posted hits in the contest, two from Leah Carlini, including a shot over the left center fence, and one each from Brianna Ramstine and Carly Kirtland. Jenna Gaisford took the loss in the circle going three innings and Keira Warwick finished out the game.

Game two started out a little slower with Broome holding a 5-3 lead in the top of the fifth before Niagara exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the inning and the 10-5 lead. The bats were more prevalent in game two, posting nine hits in all by six different players. Ramstine, Carlini and Warwick each had two hits in the game. One of Ramstine's hits was a home run, and Gaisford and Carlini each had a double. Also adding to the hit totals were McKenna Beers and Alana Espinoza. Espinoza got the loss, pitching four and one third innings and again, Warwick finished out the game. The Hornets dropped to 9-15 overall while the Thunderwolves improved to 24-13 overall.

Broome will return to the BU Bearcat Softball Complex next Saturday for a twinbill against Monroe CC with the first pitch scheduled for noon.
