Soccer picked up a crucial Region III win over Mohawk Valley CC Wednesday afternoon on Alumni Field by a narrow 2-1 score.  Jordan McGinnis (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) started the scoring for the Hornets 12:03 into the first period off a perfect cross from Mackensie Gravelin (Sidney, NY/Sidney).  The Hawks evened the score on a breakaway goal by Sydney Cook at the 23:44 mark, making the score 1-1 at the half. 

Gravelin got the Hornets going in the second half with her second assist as she delivered a through ball to get Allison O'Shea (Marathon, NY/Marathon) started on a breakaway which she finished for the winning goal at 45:56. Jolene Krom (Sidney, NY/Sidney) was kept busy in goal, stopping 14 of the visitors 15 shots.

The Hornets are home again this Saturday at 11:00 A.M. against New Jersey's Ocean County CC.
