Women Rebound After Loss In Utica

Brroome keeper getting ready to make a save
vs North Country

The soccer team rebounded from their loss on Wednesday with a 5-2 win over North Country CC in a Region III matchup played Saturday afternoon on Alumni Field.  The Hornets struck first in the 21st minute when Hannah Faulkner beat the charging Saints keeper with a chip shot which found the back of the net.  In the 23rd minute center midfielder Chloe Brauer scooped up a clearing ball and buried it in the upper right hand corner of the goal for a 2- 0 lead.  North Country answered with a goal of their own after picking off a back pass to the keeper and surprising Broome with a quick finish.  Broome added an insurance goal at 37:47 when Brauer collected a corner kick and dropped a beautiful pass to Katelynn Griffiths who finished it through a crowd of players.  The first half ended with the Hornets in front 3-1.

The second half saw the Hornets garner most of the possession as they added a pair of goals by Kayla Kromelbein and Mackensie Gravelin.  The Saints managed one more goal with one second left on the clock but it wasn't enough to change the outcome of the match.  Both keepers were busy during the match, Paige Finch picked up the win stopping 14 of the visitors shots and North Country's Anna Thrasher stopped 11 shots.

Broome will host Cayuga CC in a MSAC contest this Wednesday beginning at 2:00 P.M.
