Volleyball Finishes 2-1 At Jefferson POD

SUNY Broome traveled to Watertown on Saturday for the first POD tournament of the season, hosted by Jefferson CC and went 2-1 on the day.  The wins over Jefferson and Cayuga went five sets and the lone loss of the day came from Onondaga CC. 

The first match of the day was against Jefferson, a 3-2 win, with set scores 25-19, 18-25, 14-25, 25-22, 15-11.  Kaitlin Manley had 14 kills and 4 blocks. Taylor Hessler had 35 assists and 3 aces, and Ni'esa Davidson totaled 22 digs.

The second match against Cayuga was also a 3-2 victory for Broome, with set scores 25-20, 19-25, 20-25, 25-15, 16-14.  Manley totaled 17 kills and 9 blocks. Hessler had 37 assists, Rayna Pouliot contributed 4 aces and Lauren Carpenter had 19 digs.

Broome lost the final match of the day against Onondaga 0-3 with set scores 24-26, 15-25, 25-27.  Manley led the offense again with 15 kills.  Hessler had 30 assists, Carpenter contributed 18 digs, and Davidson had 2 aces.

The Hornets improved their record to 4-3 with their next match this Wednesday in the West Gym against Tompkins Cortland CC 6:00 P.M.
