Second Year Players Recognized At Home POD

Broome's second year players were recognized for their efforts over the past two years on Saturday at their home POD tournament.  Outside Hitter Lauren Carpenter (Vestal, NY/Maine-Endwell), Setter Taylor Hessler (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) and Defensive Specialist Ni'esa Davidson (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) were all acknowledged for their contributions to the volleyball program.

The Hornets went 1-2 on the day, defeating Niagara County CC in the opener 3-0 with set scores of 25-17, 25-23, 25-17.   Kaitlin Manley (Willet, NY/Cincinnatus) had 8 kills and 6 blocks, Megan Hazelton (Castle Creek, NY/Central Baptist) led the team in solo blocks with 2, Taylor Hessler (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) had 22 assists and, Lauren Carpenter (Vestal, NY/Maine-Endwell) had 14 digs and 3 aces.

The second match of the day was a loss against Erie 3-1 with set scores 21-25, 25-21, 24-26, 18-25.  Manley had 17 kills and 9 blocks, Carpenter had 4 aces and 25 digs, Hessler had 30 assists and 4 blocks, Rayna Pouliot Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) had 23 digs and Ni'esa Davidson (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) had 18 digs.

The final match was against an undefeated Jamestown team, Broome lost 3-0 with set scores 12-25, 18-25, 21-25.  Manley had 10 kills and 4 blocks, Hessler had 9 assists and Davidson had 8, Carpenter had 17 digs and 3 kills. 

Broome will take to the road on Monday for a match against the County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ scheduled to begin at 6:00 P.M.
