Baseball Splits With Jamestown

SUNY Broome split a doubleheader at Jamestown Community College Sunday. The Hornets (10-14, 8-8) won game one 7-3 and lost the second 6-0.

The Hornets got the scoring started in the second inning of game one when Henry Pellicciotti led the inning off with a single. Terrance Garcia followed with a double and Pellicciotti advanced to third. Joe Wasko followed two batters later with a sacrifice fly to score Pellicciotti. Garcia would score later in the inning on a balk to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead.

SUNY Broome took a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth as Garcia reached on an error to lead off the inning. Thaylor Aguilera followed with a single, advancing Garcia to third. Garcia scored on an RBI-groundout by Wasko. Jowendrick Sillie and Jack Burns followed with back-to-back singles, with Burns driving Aguilera home.

The Hornets pushed the lead to 7-0 in the top of the fifth inning when Adam Kettle and Pellicciotti hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. Garcia followed with a walk to load the bases. Two batters later Wasko drove Kettle and Pellicciotti home with a single. Garcia would score later in the inning as Sillie reached on an error.

Jamestown would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth on two hits and added a run in the seventh on two hits, but would not draw any closer.

Rachid Martie scattered seven hits over 6 2/3 innings and struck out three to pick up the win for the Hornets.

Jamestown took an early lead 1-0 in game two scoring on one hit, two errors, and a walk in the bottom of the first inning.

The Jayhawks added to the lead in the fourth as they picked up two runs on a hit and an error.

Jamestown pushed the lead to 4-0 in the fifth, scoring once on two hits.

The Jayhawks would tack on two runs in the sixth inning on two hits and an error to take a 6-0 lead.

The Hornets will travel to Onondaga Community College Tuesday for a double header starting at 2 p.m.
