Baseball Drops Double Header At Home

SUNY Broome dropped a double header to Niagara County Community College at Hornet Field on Saturday. The Hornets (10-18, 8-12) lost the first game 9-2 and the second 14-7.

The Thunderwolves struck first in game one, scoring twice on three hits in the top of the third inning.
Niagara pushed the lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth, scoring once on three hits.
The Hornets answered in the bottom of the fifth when Jaidorick Woods (Willemstad, Curacao/Regina Paces) led off the inning with a double. Joe Wasko (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic Central) followed with a single. Joe Klenchik (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) singled to load the bases. Troy Scales (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) would reach on a fielder's choice with Woods being forced out at home for the first out of the inning.  Wasko would score on a passed ball to cut the lead to 3-1. Henry Pellicciotti (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) would drive in the Hornets second run of the inning with a single up the middle, scoring Klenchik.
The Thunderwolves would answer back in the top of the sixth, scoring six runs on six hits, and a walk to take a 9-2 lead.
Niagara scored first in game two, taking a 1-0 lead after the top of the first on a walk and an error.
The Thunderwolves pushed the lead to 2-0 in the second on a walk and a hit.
Niagara stretched the lead to 5-0 in the third, plating three runs on three hits and a walk.
The lead was 6-0 after the top of the fifth when Niagara scored once on two hits and a walk.
The Hornets answered in the bottom of the fifth when Matt Torto (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley), Woods, and Pellicciotti earned back-to-back-to-back walks to load the bases with no outs. Torto scored on a passed ball for the first run of the inning. Klenchik walked to reload the bases, and Woods scored on a sacrifice fly by Scales. Forrest Gilbert (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) drove in Pellicciotti and Klenchik with a two-RBI single to center to cut the lead to 6-4.
The Thunderwolves extended the lead to 11-4 in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on two hits, an error, two walks and had two batters hit by a pitch.
SUNY Broome cut the lead to 11-7 in the bottom of the sixth when Woods earned a one out walk. Woods stole second and third, and then scored on a wild pitch. Pellicciotti walked and then stole second. Klenchik reached on an error, pushing Pellicciotti to third. Scales followed with a double, scoring Pellicciotti and moving Klenchik to third. Klenchik would score on a Thaylor Aguilera (Caracas, Venezuela/UEN Mariano Picon Salas) RBI-groundout.
Niagara would cap the scoring in the top of the seventh, scoring three runs on three hits and an error.

SUNY Broome will travel to Niagara County Community College for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Sunday.
