Women Go 1-1 At Home Over The Weekend

The Hornets split a pair of games at home this weekend, falling to Jefferson CC on Saturday, 57-50, and defeating Hudson Valley CC on Sunday, 66-60.  

On Saturday against MSAC opponent Jefferson, Broome led after one by four points, and again at the half by four, 30-26 before the Cannoneers cut the lead to one after the third quarter.  Broome went cold in the fourth quarter, managing just 8 points while Jefferson put up 16 points including 7 of those from Alyson Crosby.  Broome was led by Miya Ritchie with 18 points and 8 boards followed by Vivian Ladd with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 4 blocks.  Daisy Allen chipped in with 6 points and 8 boards, and Bekah Richter came off the bench for 6 points and 5 rebounds. Jefferson's Ashlyn Eyles led all scorers with 22 points.

Sunday saw the Hornets ahead again at the half, 30-28, for the fourth game in a row but this time they held their opponent in check, with both teams putting up 19 points in the third, and the Hornets besting the Vikings 17-13 in the final quarter.  Ritchie led all scorers with 23 points and Ladd filled the stat line again with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks.  Richter added 10 points, Allen had 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals, and Calista Smith and Ashley Barnhart grabbed 7 rebounds apiece.

Broome begins their second trip through the MSAC this Wednesday with a trip out to Canandaigua to face Finger Lakes CC, tipoff scheduled for 5:30 P.M.
