Hornets Hit Season Highs In MSAC Win At Home

The women's basketball team defeated Cayuga CC, 84-57, on Saturday afternoon in the Baldwin Gymnasium in a game that saw the Hornets hit season highs in points, 3-pointers and 3-point %.  The Hornets connected on 14 of their 30 three balls for 46.7%, accounting for half of their 84 points.  Broome took a three point lead after the first quarter and turned it into a twenty three point halftime lead behind Miya Ritchie's 18 points, Kori Thornton's 11 points and Vivian Ladd's 10 points.  The Spartans never threatened the host team in the second half despite Fatimaah Findley's 14 point showing in the half.

Ritchie led all scorers with 25 points including four 3-pointers, Ladd was next up with 23 points, 9 of those points coming by way of the three-ball, and Thornton finished with 17 points and a team high five 3-pointers.  Also figuring into the three pointers were Anna Hotalen and Vanessa Groover with one each.  Ladd continued to fill the stat lines with 6 rebounds, 8 assists, 6 steals and 2 blocks.  Hotalen led the host team with 11 rebounds.

Prior to the game Broome recognized 2nd year players, Anna Hotalen and Miya Ritchie for their efforts and dedication over the past two seasons.

Broome will travel to Corning on Wednesday for a 5:00 P.M. MSAC matchup against the Red Barons.
