Lead Slips Away On Road

The women's basketball team let a 2 point lead slip away in a decisive fourth quarter Thursday night in Auburn, eventually falling to Cayuga CC, 51-45 in the MSAC contest.  The Hornets came out strong in the first quarter to take an 11 point lead behind the shooting of Miya Ritchie and Calista Smith for a 21-10 lead over the Spartans.  Broome cooled off in the second and third quarters scoring only 7 and 6 points respectively while Cayuga connected for 9 and 13.  The difference in the game came down to free throws, Cayuga hit 14 of 18 while Broome went a dismal 1-9 from the charity stripe.  The Hornets fell to 4-6 in Region III; 2-2 in MSAC and the Spartans improved to 4-6 In Region III and 2-1 in MSAC.

Ritchie was the lone player in double figures for the Hornets with 11 points followed by Bekah Richter with 9 points, Smith added 7 and Kori Thornton added 6 points.

Broome returns home next Wednesday for a 5:00 P.M. tipoff against Corning CC.
