Baseball Swept In Opener
The baseball team traveled to Canandaigua, NY on Tuesday for their season opener and were swept by Finger Lakes CC 7-5 in game one and 9-5 in game two. Despite the losing both games the Hornets exhibited a no quit attitude by mounting comebacks in the 7th innings of both games. Down 7-1 in game one the Hornets scored 4 runs in the top of the seventh and in the second game they scored 2 runs.
SUNY Broome leaders were Rachid Martie (Willemstad, Curacao/St Jozef VSBO) with 3 hits in 6 at-bats with 2 runs scored and an RBI, Henry Pellicciotti (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City), Joe Klenchik (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) and Cody Burnett (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) each had 2 hits in 5 at-bats. Pellicciotti scored 3 runs and drove in 4 runs. Klenchik and Burnett each drove in a run. Christopher Sweeney (McGraw, NY/McGraw) had a 2 run single in the 4th inning of game 2.
SUNY Broome will host Niagara County CC this Saturday at Hornet Field with game one scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
