Hornets Split In Syracuse

The SUNY Broome Hornets split a doubleheader with Onondaga Community College in Syracuse today. The Hornets lost the first game 12-2 in 6 innings and won the second game 9-6.

Game one found the Hornets struggling to execute with opportunities to score runs early falling behind 11-0 through four innings. The Hornets plated two runs in the top of the fifth with RBI hits from Troy Scales and Joe Klenchik. Henry Pellicciotti, Joseph Hamdan and Scales all had multi-hit games in the loss.

Game two saw the Hornets bats come alive early, scoring seven runs in the first inning. Klenchik, Hamdan and Matt DePalmo all had 2 RBI hits in the inning while Harrison Lourens drove in the other run. The Hornets scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to seal the victory. Cuyler Kochin picked up his first win on the season, allowing two earned runs over five innings. Christopher Ellerson notched his first save of the season as well. Klenchik finished with three RBI's on the game.

Broome's record is now 4-16 overall and 4-16 in Region III. Broome's next game is Thursday, April 30th at 2:00 .p.m against Onondaga CC at Hornet Field.
