Softball Splits With Hudson Valley CC

SUNY Broome played a double header at home against Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon.  Game one ended with in a 9-1 Viking win. The lone Hornet run was scored when Delaney Zizak (Vestal, NY/Vestal) walked and was later hit home by a Jenna Flannery (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) single.  Flannery lost her second game of the season and fell to 3-2.

The second game saw the Hornets defense come alive with some outstanding plays made in both the infield and outfield in the 5-4 victory.  Brianna Stinson (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) was responsible for all five Hornets runs scored. She homered in two consecutive at bats with a three-run shot in the first and a solo  in the third.  Stinson also doubled in the fifth inning to score McKenzie Martin (Deposit, NY/Deposit) for what proved to be the game winning run. Justina Ellis (Deposit, NY/Deposit) picked up her first win of the season allowing seven hits and striking out six Hudson Valley batters.

Up next is a 3:00 p.m. game against Cayuga CC at the BAGSAI Softball Complex in Binghamton.
