Volleyball Sweeps In Herkimer POD

The volleyball team traveled to Herkimer on Saturday and picked up two victories by way of the sweep, winning 3-0 against Mohawk Valley in the first match and 3-0 against Herkimer in the second.
 
In the first match against the Hawks, the Hornets won by set scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-16. Jaylen Bennett had a team high 11 kills and 7 aces while teammate Anna Tiberia led the way in assists with with 23 of them. Casie Kephart had 5 kills and no errors on 10 attempts and chipped in with 4 aces and 1 solo block.
 
In the second match the Hornets faced the host team, Herkimer College, and won by set scores of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-14. Gabriella Bishop led the offense with 9 kills and no errors on 16 attempts and, Ayshah Almashni and Anna Tiberia anchored the defense with 6 digs apiece. Bennett had 7 kills, 5 aces, 5 digs and 1 solo block. Tiberia led the Hornets in assists with 21 and chipped in with a solo block.
 
Broome improved to 3-2 on the season and will travel to Syracuse on Tuesday for a 6:00 P.M. match against the Lazers from Onondaga.
