Volleyball Falls to Finger Lakes at Home on Sophomore Night

The volleyball team fell to #2 Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday by a score of 3-0.

Prior to the match, Broome used its final home game of the regular season to honor its sophomore players for Sophomore Night. Anna Tiberia, Gabriella Bishop, Madyson McMorrow, Casie Kephart, Jaylen Bennett, and Katarina Frommert were recognized. 

The Hornets fought hard throughout the match but were defeated by set scores of 25-8, 25-15, 25-16. The Lakers, the #2 overall team in both the NJCAA Region III standings and the Coaches Poll, provided a tough test for Broome, which entered the match with three straight wins. Bishop tied for the team lead in kills with 6, while also leading the team with 7 digs. Bennet was the other member of the Hornets to notch 6 kills, also providing 3 digs. Tiberia totaled 2 kills, 5 digs, and 16 assists in the contest. Tiberia has a remarkable 115 assists in her last five games, and 355 on the season. Frommert was also impressive with 4 kills and 4 digs. 

This loss drops Broome to 10-7 for the year, with a 9-3 regional record. They are currently tied for third in the Region III standings. Finger Lakes improves to 17-1 on the year, with an 11-1 regional record. 

The Hornets will look to get back to their recent success this weekend. They will travel to Johnstown, NY on Saturday for a POD hosted by Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Broome draws the #1 ranked Raiders in a match scheduled for 12:30 P.M., with a match against Jefferson Community College to follow.
