The men's soccer team stumbled over the weekend dropping back-to-back games to Cayuga CC and SUNY ESF.
The Hornets started the weekend off by hosting the Spartans on Saturday, and followed that up by paying a visit to the Mighty Oaks on Sunday.
Cayuga, undefeated with a 6-0 record and now ranked #4 in the latest NJCAA Divsion III Men's Soccer poll, scored three goals in the first stanza and added four in the second to shut out the Hornets 7-0. Broome tallied five shots on goal in the contest but did not convert on any. Ryan Rizzi, Hamza Giles, and Jacob Sansom led the Hornets in that department. Goalkeeper Dean Patterson was again strong in the net for the Hornets, racking up 10 saves as he was bombarded all day long with double-digit shots from the Spartans.
The Hornets then made the trip to USCAA Division II SUNY ESF on Sunday, fighting hard to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Mighty Oaks. The home team in ESF controlled the game with 14 shots, while Broome had two shots: one each from Sansom and Holden Isaac. Patterson did a great job to minimize the number of times that ESF converted on their shots, allowing just the two goals and picking up 11 saves.
The next two games on the docket for the Hornets will take place away from home. Still in search of win number one, the team will travel to Jamestown CC on Wednesday at 4:30 PM and then to Genesee CC on Sunday at 2:30 PM.
