The men's soccer team notched its first win of the campaign on Thursday with a 6-0 shutout win over SUNY Niagara.
The Hornets exploded with six goals, four of which came in the first half, and dominated possession of the ball en route to the victory at home.
Corey Cottrell started the scoring early for Broome, and another goal followed quickly after when Hamza Giles delivered a beautiful pass through the air to Jacob Sansom, who headed the ball into the net. Sansom scored his second goal of the contest shorty after, giving the Hornets a 3-0 edge.
After another first-half goal, this time by Lucas Cottrell, SUNY Broome entered halftime with a 4-0 lead.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Ryan Rizzi tacked on to the lead. Near the end of the second half, Mjhed Bher joined the scoring party to extend the lead to 6-0.
Goalkeeper Dean Patterson played brilliantly in the net for the Hornets, collecting a clean sheet.
Broome improves to 1-8 on the season with this exciting win.
Next up, the Hornets will travel to Finger Lakes CC on Saturday for a 1:00 PM contest.
