Men's Soccer Ties Erie 0-0, Wins Penalty Kicks Round

The Hornets showed their strength on the road against the Kats, controlling possession of the ball for the majority of the game and executing in important situations.
The Hornets' control of the ball allowed for many opportunities on the attack, generating 10 shots. However, just a few of the 10 were on goal, and non were able to be converted for a score.
With Broome stepping up to make strong defensive plays when it needed, the team was able to keep Erie under five shots on goal and Hornet goalkeeper Dean Patterson saved each attempt.
The score was tied at 0-0 entering halftime, and remained in a deadlock at the end of regulation. The match then went right in to the penalty kicks round.
Jasik Dhillon started the round with a bang for Broome, knocking his PK past the Erie keeper. Patterson saved the corresponding Erie kick. Charles Larrabee had the next kick for the Hornets and knocked it in, giving Broome a 2-0 advantage. Erie would sneak their corresponding PK past Patterson to move within 2-1. Mjhed Bher responded with another successful kick, making Broome 3/3 on PK attempts. The following PK by Erie was high and wide of the goal and the Hornets held a 3-1 advantage. Ryan Rizzi walked it off for Broome with another successful PK, and the Hornets finished the round with a decisive 4-1 advantage.
Broome will close out its regular season on Wednesday, October 16 at 2:00 PM at home at Alumni Field vs Tompkins Cortland CC.
