Women's Soccer Team Falls To North Country

The women's soccer team fell to North Country CC 2-1 in a Region III soccer match at Alumni Field. After a scoreless first half on the rain soaked field, SUNY Broome came out pressing but it was the visitors who notched the first two goals. Despite dominating the possession for most of the game the Hornets found themselves down 2-0.  A great effort got the Hornets back in the game in the 80th minute on a goal by Kendra Zacharias (Vestal, NY/Vestal) off a cross by Shelby Brassard (Spring Grove, PA/Home School).  The goal, however, wouldn't be enough as the Hornets dropped the contest and fell to 4-2 on the season. The Hornets held a 25-8 advantage on shots over the Saints and a 5-1 lead in corner kicks. Erin Hamm (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) had 3 saves and visiting keeper, Shelby Egnaczyk, stopped 13 shots.

Next up is Cayuga CC at home in a MSAC conference game on Wednesday, September 17 at 5:00 p.m.
