Women's Soccer Team Splits Weekend Games
The women's soccer team traveled to Buffalo on Saturday for a Region III matchup with Erie CC and came home a 5-1 winner but fell to SUNY ESF 2-0 at home on Sunday in a non-regional contest. Braving the elements proved to be the toughest for both teams as the Hornets, behind two goals each from Rosemary Zelenyak and Renee Kashou bested the Hawks by a final margin of 5-1. In the 11th minute Zelenyak buried a cross from Kirsten Klein to start the scoring and less than 8 minutes later she added her second goal.  After fighting through a half of cold downpouring rain things settled down and SUNY Broome took over.  The scoring was capped in the 78th minute by Jordan Shepard-Loucks from a feed by Michaela Simmons inside the opposition box. On Sunday the Hornets failed to get on the board falling to SUNY ESF in a non-regional contest played at Alumni Field.
The Hornets finish the regular season at Tompkins Cortland CC on Wednesday in another Region III matchup.
