Women's Soccer Secure MSAC Championship
The women's soccer team secured the MSAC championship title with a 6-0 win over Tompkins Cortland CC Wednesday afternoon in Dryden. The key conference and regional matchup saw the Hornets finish the regular season 13-4 overall; 13-3 in Region III; 5-1 MSAC and a birth in the Region III Tournament. Six different players scored goals in the match with the first one tallied 2:35 into the contest by Emily Cortese off a drop back pass from Rosemary Zelenyak. The score at the end of the first half was 4-0. After controlling play for most of the second half Jordan Shepard-Loucks finished the scoring notching her team leading 17th goal of the season. The Hornets defense allowed only 5 total shots on goal as Erin Hamm pitched her 9th shutout of the season.
The Hornets will play in a second round playoff game next Tuesday at home.
