In a game that saw two halves go very differently for the Hornets, they end up on the losing side of a MSAC matchup Thursday night by falling to Cayuga CC, 85-71. Broome came out firing in the first half as they hit nine 3-pointers with Tron Smith connecting on five of those on his way to a 21 point half. The Hornets held a 16 point lead at one pint, but the Spartans cut it by halftime to 44-36. Cayuga's defense stepped up its intensity in the 2nd half and shots started to fall for the home team, leading to a 49-27 half, and the 14 point victory.
Smith finished with a double-double, 30 points and 12 rebounds, and he also added 6 assists. Quartus Steika also gave a double-double effort with 17 points and 15 rebounds, along with 2 blocks, Noah Economides contributed 13 points, hitting three 3 pointers.
Broome is back home on Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. to face Corning CC in an MSAC contest.
