Men Earn MSAC Win At Home

The men's basketball team earned their 2nd MSAC victory of the season, a 95-90 home win against Cayuga CC. The Hornets have won two of their last three games after a ten-game losing streak.  Saturday's game saw both teams make scoring runs where they seemed to be unstoppable.  The high scoring first half ended at 53-51, advantage Hornets.  Cayuga surged to begin the second half, eventually taking a 12 point lead with under 9 minutes to play but the last run by Broome brought them back to retake the lead for good.
 
The Hornets balanced scoring effort of 5 players in double-figures was led by Noah Economides' 19 points, on 5-8 shooting from the 3 point line.  Sophomore PG Tron Smith, who was honored at his last regular season home game, went out with a bang, scoring 17 points, dishing out 12 assists and grabbing 10 rebounds for the triple-double.  Smith also added 4 steals to his totals.  Also playing his final home game was Quartus Steika who contributed 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks.  Other double digit scorers were Zachary Porter with 14 points and 5 assists, and Marvin Lopez with 11 big points, all in the second half comeback, and 4 steals.
 
Broome hits the road on Wednesday to face Corning CC in an MSAC matchup with a 7:00 P.M. tip.
