This performance secured a regular season sweep over the Cannoneers as SUNY Broome topped Jefferson at home on January 11, 77-54. The Hornets improved to 7-9 overall, 7-7 in Region III play, and 5-3 in conference play with the victory. It was Broome's sixth win of January.
After trailing 32-30 at halftime, Broome used a 16-point advantage in the second half to come from behind and win by 14.
Amauri Truax continued his recent scoring surge by pouring in 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Antuan Darden was next in the points column with 16, adding eight rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. Then there was Green, who scored 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to secure his third double-double in a row and his 10th of the season. Green's averages are up to 13.8 ppg and 11.6 rpg while shooting 37.8% from three-point range.
The Hornets had the advantage over the Cannoneers in field goal percentage (46.3% to 32.4%) and three-point percentage (36.8% to 22.2%), also collecting seven more assists than Jefferson in the win.
SUNY Broome will finish up its five-game road stretch with a pair of contests on Saturday and Sunday. The team will travel to Clinton CC on Saturday and to North Country CC on Sunday.
