Women's Basketball Team Wins In OT

The women's basketball team defeated SUNY Adirondack 87-84 in Queensbury, NY Saturday afternoon to finish the first semester one game above .500 at 5-4. The Hornets got out to an early lead and closed the half with a 40-31 lead. The second half saw the Timberwolves chip away and eventually take the lead late in the second half behind a 45 point performance by Alexis Smith.

With 8 seconds left in the game and down by 6 Kimberly Santiago (Bethleham, PA/Liberty) hit one of her season high five 3-pointers to set up arguably the most exciting finish this year by the Hornets. With 2.8 seconds left on the clock and down by three the Hornets had to go the length of the floor. With time running out Lucille Dellos (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) hit her first 3-pointer of the game from well beyond the arc to send the game into OT. In OT, Dellos hit two more 3s to help lift SUNY Broome to the win. The Hornets connected on a season-high twelve 3-pointers in the Region III win. Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) filled the stat line with 28 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals, Santiago finished with 23 points, Dellos had 13 points and Kerslyn Fenelus added 12 points and 5 steals.

Broome is now off until early in January where they will open up MSAC play on the road.
