Women Hold Off Late Run

The women's basketball team held off a late run by Tompkins Cortland CC Saturday afternoon at home to earn the 63-61 MSAC win. The Panthers got off to a 21-8 start behind the shooting of Jenna Bowman before the Hornets closed out the half with a 27-5 run of their own. Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) connected on all four of her 3-pointers to help the Hornets take a 35-26 lead into the half. Kuhnen scored a career best 31 points to go along with 5 assists and 2 blocks while backcourt mate Lucille Dellos (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) chipped in with 11 points and 3 assists. Karisa Sheriff (Windsor, NY/Windsor) provided a much needed spark off the bench with 8 points, 6 boards and 2 assists.

The Hornets improved to 12-6 overall and 6-2 in the MSAC while the Panthers fell to 5-13 overall and 2-7 in the MSAC. Up next is a trip up I81 to Syracuse for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off this Tuesday against Onondaga CC, the NJCAA's 4th ranked team in the country.
