Women's Soccer Team Wins Thriller

The women's soccer team faced Onondaga CC on Tuesday afternoon in what turned out to be a thrilling victory for the Hornets at Alumni Field. After a playing to a scoreless first half the Hornets struck first on a goal from Unadilla Valley grad Kate Fagen off an assist from Owego Free Acdemy grad Katelyn Simpson. The Lazers (8-4-1) got on the board next with a goal from Lakaylee Grassi tying the game at 1-1.

With 20 seconds remaining in the game Vestal grad Danielle Tyrrell took a thru ball from Simpson to face Onondaga's goalkeeper, Sophie Jackson, in a one on one situation and ended the ninety minute battle putting Broome on top 2-1.

Goalkeeper Ariel Roys had three stops for the Hornets (9-3) while Jackson stopped five shots for the Lazers. Broome dominated in shots, 11-2 and corner kicks, 6-1.

Up next for Broome is a road trip to Fulton-Montgomery CC this Saturday for 1:00 p.m. match in Johnstown, NY.
