Women Close Out Regular Season Home Schedule With 5th Straight Shutout

The women's soccer team ended their regular season home schedule with their 5th straight shutout, defeating Tompkins Cortland CC 4-0 in a MSAC match this afternoon on Alumni Field. For the 4th consecutive season, the SUNY Broome women's soccer team has won the Mid State Athletic Conference title. The Hornets (15-1) started the scoring in the 5th minute against the Panthers (6-7-1) when Nicole Harmer scored her first of two goals on a free kick from 30 yards out. Three minutes later, Lindsey Aingworth added to the lead from 20 yards out, courtesy of a drop ball by Emiley Myers. Margaret Edwards rounded out the first half scoring by putting away a loose ball at the six.  The second half started when Harmer put home a crossing ball from Aingworth inside the box. As they have done all year, the Hornets defense shut the door on the Panthers to secure the victory and the MSAC title. Hornets keeper, Jolene Krom made two saves to preserve her 10th shutout of the season.

Broome will finish their regular season against Genesee CC, Region III's 4th ranked team, on Saturday in Batavia scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
