The women's soccer team secured a 3-1 win on Sunday against Finger Lakes CC in a MSAC matchup played in Canandaigua. The Hornets wore navy blue in warm ups to show their support for Genesee CC men's soccer player Ethan Walker, here from Scotland. Navy blue represents his Scottish heritage. Walker was seriously injured in a tragic accident last Tuesday and we all wish him a speedy recovery. #EW29.

The defining moment of the match came in the 17th minute when Julia Burd broke the deadlock. Laura Breigle delivered a deep cross to Leah Williams, who slotted the ball to Burd, sealing the deal. Then in the 34th minute, Williams was slotted a ball through the middle of the field from Chloe Brown and cleared her for a breakaway goal. Lilly Wlostowski added to the Hornet's tally with a sensational finish in the 51st minute, capitalizing on a pass from Maci Spencer. Just a few minutes later, in the 54th minute, Finger Lakes' Kailee Lewis managed to find the back of the net against Hornet's keeper Crista Schanbacher, scoring their sole goal of the match. Throughout the match, Broome relentlessly pressed forward, outshooting their opponents 28-2. Finger Lakes' goalkeeper Quynn Tallman put on a remarkable performance, making 19 saves to keep her team in contention. With this win, the Hornets improved their season record to 4-4 and the Lakers fall to 0-8.

Next up, Broome will host Fulton Montgomery CC on Wednesday, with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 P.M. at Alumni Field.
