The women's soccer team hosted SUNY Adirondack on Saturday and celebrated with a 4-0 victory on Sophomore Day before falling in a well fought match Sunday to Hudson Valley CC by a score of 2-1.

Before the game on Saturday, Broome paid tribute to their sophomore players. Leah Williams, Chloe Brown, Emily Kane, Olivia Laney, Maci Spencer, Courtney Seery, and Briana McQuade were honored. Leah Williams set the tone early, scoring in the 15th minute as she weaved through defenders for a breakaway goal. The Hornets struck again in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a corner kick. Laura Breigle's strike to near post deflected off a Timberwolve's defender into the net. The second half witnessed a battle for possession, but the Hornets outshot their opponents 19-6. In the 80th minute, Emily Kane showcased her prowess, weaving through defenders after receiving a pass from Haley Beckwith. Beckwith's delivery allowed Kane to take on the defender and punch one into the corner of the goal. Just two minutes later, in the 82nd minute, Jessica Wells drove the ball into the box delivering a cross to Leah Williams, who confidently buried the final goal of the match. Cheyenne Shufelt made an impressive 13 saves for the Timberwolves, while Hornets' goalkeeper Crista Schanbacher made four vital saves to preserve a clean sheet for the team. With this win, Broome climbs to a 6-4 record, while SUNY Adirondack falls to 2-5-3.

On Sunday, Hudson Valley struck first, finding the back of the net in the 14th minute courtesy of a well-executed free kick. However, the Hornets roared back in the 32nd minute when Wells maneuvered the ball into open space, initiating a breakaway opportunity. Wells found herself against two defenders and the goalkeeper in a scrum, managing to poke the ball into the net and level the score. Both teams were evenly determined as the second half witnessed a tense deadlock until the Vikings broke through with a powerful shot from the top of the box that struck the crossbar and found its way into the net. The Hornets were not able to capitalize despite their efforts, outshooting their opponent 13-7. Hornets' goalkeeper Schanbacher played a pivotal role, making an impressive seven saves, including three crucial breakaway stops that kept Broome in contention. With this result, Broome's record now stands at 6-5, while the Vikings improve to 4-4.

Looking ahead, the Hornets will face off against Bryant & Stratton (Albany) this Saturday at 12:00 P.M. on Alumni Field.
