SUNY Broome Announces Retirement of Coach Rich

SUNY Broome Community College's Faculty and Staff Association (FSA) wishes to announce Women's Soccer Head Coach Bill Rich's retirement, effective Nov. 21, 2023.

In his extraordinary 25-year coaching career, Coach Rich's teams secured 16 Conference championships, five Regional championships and three NJCAA National Titles.

With an outstanding 353 wins, Coach Rich has become the winningest DIII Women's Soccer Coach of all time.

His 2007 NJCAA National Championship was the first in the College's history. That same year, Rich coached the 2007 National Player of the Year (Emily Dixon) and was named 2007 National Coach of the Year. He was also named All Region Coach of the Year 8 times and MSAC Conference Coach of the Year 14 times.

Coach Rich founded the Hornets Soccer Camp in 2005 and for the next 18 years administered the camp providing hundreds of local youth with valuable opportunities to hone their skills while fostering a love for the sport.

Recognizing Coach Rich's exceptional contributions, The Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame welcomed him as an inductee in April 2023, acknowledging a career marked by excellence

While Coach Rich's retirement marks the end of an era, the legacy built over the last 25 years will undoubtedly endure.

We thank him for his years of service as the Hornet Head Women's Soccer Coach, and wish him all the best in his next chapter!
