vs Finger Lakes

The volleyball team hosted Finger Lakes CC on Saturday afternoon in an exciting four set match that saw Broome come out on top 3-1. The Lakers (8-3) jumped three spots last week to the top of the Region III Coaches Poll while the Hornets (5-0) fell one spot to number three in the rankings. The Hornets started the match off slow, losing the first set to the Lakers 23-25, but Broome fought hard to win the next three sets, 26-24, 25-22, and 25-23 to take the match in four.

Katherine Bennorth (Wanaque, NJ) led the host team with 10 kills, while teammates Sara Zepkowski (Owego) and Melissa Carden (Vestal) contributed 9 kills each. Carden also led the team in blocks with 4 total for the match. Macey Gibson (Owego) put up 20 digs and Mackenzie Struble (Owego) had a great game with a total of 42 assists, 5 kills and 3 aces.

The Hornets will be tested again this Tuesday at 6:00 P.M. as they travel to Rochester to take on the Region's second ranked team, Monroe CC.
