Hornets Earn Sportsmanship Award At National Tournament

NJCAA DIII National Championship Sportsmanship Award
Broome concluded their season at the 2021 NJCAA Division III National Volleyball Tournament Saturday afternoon with a loss against #3 Minnesota State. This put SUNY Broome in fourth place for the tournament and finished their 2021 season record at 18-2. This very competitive match went 4 sets with final scores of 16-25, 25-19, 24-26, and 23-25.
 
Macey Gibson (Owego) led the Hornet offense with 15 kills, while teammate Sara Zepkowski (Owego) had 14 kills with a .321 hitting percentage. Zepkowski also contributed 5 blocks to the match. Mackenzie Struble (Owego) had a total of 43 assists, 2 aces, and led the Hornet defense with 20 digs. Brianna Rossi (Tioga) followed close behind with 17 digs. 
 
At the conclusion of the championship match, Zepkowski was named to the All-Tournament Team. The Hornets were also awarded the 2021 NJCAA Division III National Championship Sportsmanship Award for their enthusiasm and passion on the court during the tournament.
